It would probably be no exaggeration to say that Vodoun, (Vodun, Vodou) the traditional religion of Haiti, is one of the most misunderstood religions of all time. The persecution of Vodoun began when French slave owners, suspicious and highly afraid of practices unlike anything in their limited experience, outlawed the religion in Haiti. (In retrospect, they were probably right to be frightened- Vodou played a large part in Haiti's successful slave rebellion) Hollywood hasn't done much to rectify the issue, producing lurid tales of zombies, evil sorcery, and ritual murder, which reinforces the Western association of voodoo to images of black magic, curses, zombies, sticking pins in dolls, and human sacrifice. (The Serpent and the Rainbow ) Great movie by the way.
Because of misunderstandings about the nature of Vodoun, many attempts have been made to rid the world of this "demonic" religion. The use of magic and the practice of trance possession is very alien and even intimidating to many people raised in Christian traditions- the Loas are seen as demonic rather than divine, symbols misinterpreted. During the thirties, mass persecution intended to rid Voudoun from the world was unsuccessful. In 1996, Vodoun was declared the official religion of Benin, its land of origin.
"Voodoo" as we know it today originated with African slaves in Haiti; traditional Dahomey regional practices were blended with other African traditions, with elements of Masonry, ritual magick, and Catholicism, creating a unique faith that has survived some of the worst persecutions. The word 'voodoo' is a corruption of the word 'vodun,' a word that means 'god' or 'spirit' in the West African Fon language.
Vodoun traditionally embodies two traditions- obeah, or folk magic, also known colloquially in America as 'hoodoo,' and the ancient African worship of the Loa, an initiatory religious system. The primary worship practice in Vodoun is through possession, whereby the Loas or ancestors are enticed to inhabit or "mount" the bodies of worshippers, using their bodies and voices to communicate with devotees. This practice is the true Vodoun, the traditional ancestral root of the religion.

Angels
Angels, their images appear everywhere from postcards, birth announcements, to Christmas greetings, decorations, and ornaments. They are depicted as beautiful, magnificent creatures, with majestic wings always bringing a sense of peace, love, or joy. Angels have made us curious, fired our imagination and filled us with hope and a feeling of security. People state that angels have appeared in human form out of nowhere just at the right time to save the day or create a miracle only to disappear without a trace. They are believed to watch over and protect us. I am dying to hear real life stories of angel encounters. If any of you have stories, please post them!!

The truth about Orbs.
So what are these transparent balls of light found in photos taken in allegedly haunted places? Really, Im not sure. They are however believed to be the spirits of the dead. The problem is many orbs in photos are false. Authenticity of orbs in pictures is hard to determine due to the fact they can be confused with dust particles at the time of flash. Because of this it is hard to tell the two apart.
This picture was taken in early December by myself at the Cherry Hill House Restaurant in Mississauga ON. It is a historic and charming heritage home converted into a fine dinning restaurant. It was built in the 1800's and moved to it's current location in the 1970's.
Many stories of hauntings have surfaced in this establishment. There have been reports of a young girl riding a white horse outside, as well as mysterious footsteps wandering around the building. (Maybe this is who appeared on my camera). According to some they have seen whats been described as the heads of native Canadian's floating around the fire place. Along with ghostly noises, voices and unexplained sounds.
My husband and I have eaten at this establishment twice now. It is really remarkable. I have to say is is quite an adventure. If you ever get a chance to experince it, do it!!! The foods great too. If in fact what I caught on film was a friendly entity, It looks as though I captured it's hospitality too! Your thoughts are welcome.

lets talk about exorcisms
So since I have posted the last videos of Exorcisms, I've had little sleep. If it's subconsciously or not,Im not sure. As I have said before, the whole idea scares me. I feel as though it is time to end this discussion. I have looked a little further into this concept of being possessed and found one more video worthy of showing. On to the next subject.
